Employers

The Professional Alliance for Tech Hires (PATH) exists to help create more entry level jobs in tech. We pursue this mission in the following ways:

  1. Employer - creating an "internship in a box" - guidance for employers on the best way to bring in entry level talent in terms of: duration, compensation, and curriculum to create an ideal experience for new talent and managers/mentors

  2. Talent - creating relationships with organizations that support both youth and people interested in transitioning careers pursue their tech education, either through less-prestigious universities, community colleges, or codeschools

  3. Community - creating a cohort of employers and entry-level talent to allow for a community and cross-organizational networking opportunities to further support our mission

How do we know if we succeed? Every person who participates in a P4TH internship and stays in the tech industry is a measure of our success.

Here are the major reasons your company should participate:

  1. More talent. With an increase in diverse applicants you are accessing a talent pool that is up to x4 larger then traditional pipelines.

  2. Diversity. If your company has a diversity initiative, creating entry-level jobs is the only meaningful way to change the demographics of an industry.  Otherwise increasing diversity at your company means reducing diversity elsewhere.

  3. Local. The focus of PATH is employing local talent, which means more local prosperity and reasonable future wages for talent.

  4. Retention. People on a vocational track to programming are much more appreciative of opportunity which plays out in stronger loyalty to companies.  Additional people hired already living in a community are more likely to stay there.

  5. It's the right thing to do. Good will is spread throughout the community, potential applicants and existing employees who know it is the right thing to do.

Employer FAQ

+ There's no local P4TH chapter, can I start one?

Yes! Contact us today to find out how.

+ What counts as an entry-level job?

Any job in the tech industry that requires less than two years worth of experience.

+ Is this a government program?

No, this is a program for private employers, but in certain states there are subsidies available. An important prinicipal of the PATH program is profitability even if no subsidies were available.

+ Do I have to do it the way it is laid out?

No. Employers are free to put together any model that works for them. The most important thing is that we create as many entry-level jobs in the software industry as possible.

+ Does my company have to be a certain size?

No. Any sized company can participate, though the program works best if there are developers who can act as mentors to interns.

+ How do I get my company's logo on this website?

There is no charge for a company being added to the website, but companies must meet the following requirements: 1) They must have created an entry-level position in the tech industry within the past two years, 2) they must report annually on total number and positions posted in the calendar year, and 3) they must attend 50% of their monthly local P4TH chapter meetings.
