Internships

InternShip FAQ

+ Do I have to attend a code school?

No. Anyone with the baseline required skills and less than 2 years of professional programming experienced is welcome to apply. That said, code schools are a great way to 1) learn if you like programming and 2) build modern programming fundamentals.

+ Are there any age restrictions?

Participants must be old enough to be employed in their state. You are never too old to participate as an intern in P4TH.

+ I'm currently employed in another field. Can I be an intern?

Yes! We encouraged people to enter the software industry from other fields as we believe the additional experience and skills they bring greatly enrich the software industry. The only caveat is that anyone participating must be able to fullfill the requisite number of hours.

+ What are the code schools in my area

OREGON

Portland

+ Other than code schools, what resources are available to me?

We strongly advise seeking out meet up groups and and mentorship programs in your area. Here's a few:

Portland

  • Mentorship Saturday: A local meet up in downtown Portland where professional programmers from multiple companies come together to show people interested in programming the ropes.
  • PDXWIT: A networking and mentorship group focusing on (but not limited to) women.

Do you know of a program or information that should be in our FAQ?  Let us know.
